Blind Idol Finals
The 2018 Blind Idol Finals will be held Saturday, August 11th, at the Hanesbrands Theater in downtown Winston-Salem, NC. Stay tuned to learn who the finalists are!
Shane W. Dittmar is a 24-year-old musician, educator and composer of popular, theatrical, and concert music. He is a native of Raleigh, NC, and studied music education at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. His music is shaped by his unique view of the world; Shane is legally blind, and so he strives to create, in his musical endeavors, sincere expressions of landscapes, stories, and emotions that you don’t need sight to experience.
Carmina Jenks taught music in schools in India and Luxembourg for 38 years. She’s now the Director of the Salem College Community Music School. She plays trombone in two community orchestras in Winston-Salem and over a year and a half ago, she founded a choir for seniors at the Shepherd’s Center in town. This is her 4th year as judge in the Blind Idol competition, and she loves being a part of this wonderful endeavor.
Kevin Scott is the director of the recording group Kevin Scott and IV and the former musical director of the Winston-Salem State University gospel choir. He is heavily involved in community workshops for voice training and piano and is the minister of music for Mount Zion Baptist Church.
